I have no meetings scheduled for this week, so I was planning on putting some extra time into my dissertation. I dropped M off at school, took a walk along the Promenade, and drove home ready to get to work. I dealt with a couple of issues that had come up over the weekend, then decided I’d deal with one coming due tomorrow (so a little procrastination before I got to writing/research). That’s when I discovered that tomorrow’s problem should have been last week’s problem. But it wasn’t.

To deal with it, I needed to find my passport. I opened the box where we keep them and found all of them, except mine. So I spent the next hour frantically tearing through the house, looking for it. I searched in the box three more times.

I look in the box a fifth time and find it.

My big problem isn’t resolved, but one issue is.

While all this is going on, I message a friend. She offered to help Liz and me when we moved to Ireland, and so whenever we get in crisis mode, she is one of the first people I reach out to. And I am always amazed at the generosity she shows to us. I’m so glad to have people like this in my life.

So, at the end of the day, my problem is still there, but I think I see the steps forward. It is just going to take time to work itself out.

Hopefully, tomorrow I can dig into my dissertation. Assuming the brain fog clears away by then.

Decision Making – A Third Way
