40 Days of Lists – Day 8

I was in my 30s saying “I just want to see one Red Sox championship before I die. Now I’ve seen 4!

Here is how I rank them.

  1. 2004 – Easy. They broke the curse. Came back from 0-3 against the Yankees to make up for 86 years of torture. This one will never be surpassed.
  2. 2013 – Completely unexpected. Following a last-place finish with a bunch of meh free-agent signings, they were fun.
  3. 2007 – We went to one of the ADLS games this year. This one seemed anti-climactic after 2004, but another comeback and another WS sweep.
  4. 2018 – To be fair, this could be as high as #2—best team in Red Sox history. Tainted by the fallout over the next few years (trading Mookie, hiring Bloom, etc)
