I was going to write a quick post this afternoon, logged in and noticed I had an unpublished draft…which I soon learned was the post I though I posted on Friday. Oops.

That should give you some kind of idea how last week went as we cleared out & cleaned up the old house & moved everything into storage or the new apartment. Not only did I end up not putting up the blog post, I actually lost most of it…

If you’re interested, here is what was left when I logged in in today:

Normally for the Friday Data Dump I have some electronic type of image to signify that it is the weekly data dump. Well, in honor of cleaning out our old house…taking way to many trips to the dump, salvation army and the like, I thought this picture was a bit more appropriate.

Since I need to leave in a matter of minutes to head over to the bank where we are closing on our house (selling, not buying) this week’s data dump will be a bit shorter than normal.

Here goes…

We are excited about this Sunday…We are having a pancake breakfast @ 9:15, a combined service @ 10 am and then lunch after the service.  We’ll have a couple people sharing some stories during the service as well…I think it is going to be a really fun day.

I finally got to watch Four Days in October this week.  Watching it felt as good as it did living through it.  You can watch it on YouTube if you haven’t seen it yet.

****After the closing…which I’m

So that was as far as I got when the kids came in, and Liz & I left to finalize the sale of our house.  It took a little bit longer than we’d hoped, but we finished up, went out for dinner to celebrate, then went home & fell asleep watching a movie together.

On Sunday afternoon & was dropping Hannah off at a party and we drove by our “old house.”  There was a car in the driveway, the lights were on throughout the place & Hannah & I both got a bit nostalgic.  So, since I’m a bit nostalgic, I decided to designate this week nostalgia week here on bob.wilson.blog.

Here goes the first bit of nostalgia:

My favorite sports teams & players growing up:

1) Buffalo Sabres (Gilbert Perrault)

2) Buffalo Braves (Ernie D. GregoriaBob McAdoo ) – but then they moved to San Diego & I switched to the Philadelphia 76ers (Dr. JBobby Jones)

3) Boston Red Sox (Dwight EvansFred Lynn)

4) Dallas Cowboys (Roger Staubach) -> I swtched to the Buffalo Bills my freshman year of college because everyone was making fun of them after 2 straight 2 & 14 seasons

At this point in time, the only one of those teams I follow is the Red Sox.  Only 3 more months until pitchers & catchers!

One last piece of nostalgia for today:
While we were in Ireland this summer, Liz & I had to take her dad to Dublin several times.  On the edge of the city, was a Domino’s Pizza.  So one time I announced, “I used to date this really good looking girl who worked at Domino’s.”  Liz (who used to work at Domino’s) smiled at me…her dad said, “Well, she’s probably fat & ugly now.” That made Liz’s day!

What about Bob?

I grew up in Western New York and have started and led missional church planting efforts for a little over 30 years. As you might gather, I have opinions about the church, and I share some of them here.

Yesterday Liz left to drive M to dance camp around 9:45 am. I had been on a walk and arrived home around 10:20. I received a text from Liz shortly after saying she was at the store and asking if I needed anything. Soon after I realised I hadn’t seen the dog since I...

sermon stealing…and other types of thievery

The issue of sermon stealing has been in the news lately. I’ve wanted to write about something since Scot McKnight began discussing it a couple of years ago…I’ve been putting some thought together. I hope to post it in the next week or so. But the topic of church and...

Time Person of the Year
Time Person of the Year

Last year M & I both guessed correctly who the person of the year would be. I figured we'd take a stab at it again this year. When I asked her who she would pick, I was impressed that her top two picks were "Biden or Dolly Parton." And then she settled on Dolly...
