If you regularly read this blog, you’ve probably noticed that I haven’t been here all that much lately.  My intentions have been really good…but, all of the stuff with the house, as well as getting ready for going away for 4 weeks has cut into the margins in my life more than a bit.

One of my goals for this mini-sabbatical that I’ll be taking is to restart some habits that I’ve dropped over the past 8 months or so.

Now, it’s not like I’ve picked up bad habits, but have had a hard time keeping some good ones.  For example, for the past two years, I’ve averaged reading about a book a week…It’s gotten to the point where if I read one a month later I’m doing well.  I have been watching more television (okay, so maybe a bad habit or two.)

So, my plan is to take the extended downtime and really focus on getting some of the good habits back in my daily routine.  Things like, reading, eating well, exercising, writing.  In fact I’ve already gotten one of these started a bit.  I’ve started jogging this weekend, and except for Easter Sunday, I’ve done every day since Saturday.  Today was really good because I didn’t spend the hour after my run coughing up a lung!

Personally, I hate jogging.  But I like the effect.

Any habits you would like to startup?

What about Bob?

I grew up in Western New York and have started and led missional church planting efforts for a little over 30 years. As you might gather, I have opinions about the church, and I share some of them here.

I have no meetings scheduled for this week, so I was planning on putting some extra time into my dissertation. I dropped M off at school, took a walk along the Promenade, and drove home ready to get to work. I dealt with a couple of issues that had come up over the...
